The Best Way to Witness

I recently went to my credit union to roll over a certificate of deposit (CD). I was sitting in the waiting area with several other customers. All of us were waiting for our names to be called so we could see a customer service representative. I used my time waiting to place my usual number of gospel tracts (five at a time) at strategic locations around the area where we were sitting. I’ve done this for over 12 years, which includes placing chick tracts in banks, grocery stores, department stores, doctor’s offices, etc. My ministry from the Holy Spirit is sowing the gospel seed in written form, which includes these small cartoon booklets containing the gospel message of Jesus Christ; with the sinner’s prayer conveniently placed on the last page. I refer to spreading the gospel this way as “passive” witnessing. I personally distribute a minimum of 1000 gospel tracts every year this way. I don’t ever plan to stop doing it because it’s the best way to witness for Christ; hands down.

Proverbs 11:30 – The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.

Proverbs 14:25 – A true witness delivers souls, but a deceitful witness speaks lies.

James 5:20 – He who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death (eternal death in hell).

Colossians 3:2 – Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

The genre of sharing the gospel message by using small cartoon booklets, or tracts, started back in the early 1950’s, with Jack Chick, who created Chick tracts and began handing them out. Over the last 75 plus years billions of Christian tracts have been distributed worldwide and millions of nonbelievers have been saved unto eternal life in heaven through gospel tracts. I’ve spoken to some of them and there are numerous testimonials on chick.com if you care to review them. Tracts work! Christian tracts are inexpensive, easy to distribute and they’re able to reach nonbelievers that no other form of Christian messaging can reach. One-on-one witnessing is optimal; but let’s face it; witness opportunities are few and then it’s usually a one-time event. Christian tracts, on the other hand, can reach vastly more people with the same gospel, and that message is ongoing and can be read over and over and by multiple people. Witnessing for Christ is a numbers game, and the more people you reach, the greater your chances of success. Repetition is key! I’ve only saved a few people by witnessing personally for Christ. But through my gospel tract ministry, I’ve reached many thousands of people and saved over 100 people to the kingdom of heaven. Leveraging the gospel message through the use of tracts can yield the same results for anyone. What are you waiting for?

Psalm 37:3 – Trust in the Lord, and do good. Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.

Luke 5:10 – (Jesus to Simon) – Do not be afraid, from now on you will catch men.

Matthew 4:19 – (Jesus) – Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.

Mark 1:17 – (Jesus) – Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.

Ephesians 2:10 – For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

The Scriptures say if you sow bountifully, you will reap bountifully. I’m here to tell you that distributing Christian tracts is sowing bountifully in the eyes of God. They save nonbelievers to heaven. When God commands believers to do “good works” he means believers are to witness for Christ; because it’s the thing closest to God’s heart. When you stand before the bema judgment seat of Christ on the last day, don’t go empty-handed if you want to please the Lord. You must save at least one other person to heaven to please God. I can guarantee you that Jesus will ask you if you have witnessed in his name. You need to be able to say, “Yes, I have Lord. I have distributed Christian tracts to nonbelievers.” That’s it; if you do you’ve pleased God! You’ll be rewarded on the last day for your good work. You can do this easily. All you have to do is pass out tracts yourself like I do or you can go to chick.com and donate money to their “mission fund”, which helps to send Chick tracts all over the world to people who are desperate to hear the gospel message of Jesus Christ. You never have to face the rejection that comes with face-to-face witnessing. On the last day, sowing the gospel seed is rewarded by God equally with reaping souls to heaven. How generous is our God! With tracts you don’t even have to break a sweat. All you have to do is send money, and Chick Publications will do the rest for you. How easy is that? What are you waiting for?

2 Cor. 9:6 – But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also the Greek (Gentile).

James 1:22 – But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

2 Cor. 5:11 – Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.

I stopped keeping track of how many Christian tracts I’ve purchased and distributed during my 20-year ministry. Once the number exceeded 75,000, I thought what’s the point. My Chick tracts go primarily to my prison ministries in five states. I also send out 500 Bibles every year, plus numerous pamphlets, gospel comics and Christian books. Follow the Holy Spirit’s lead and do what you can, for as long as you can, and where you are. God will take care of the rest. You can’t take your money with you, but you can pay it forward by using what God gives you to help those less fortunate. Multiple Bible verses command you to do this very thing. You can build up honor, glory, and treasure in heaven if you obey God. Chick.com has hundreds of tracts to choose from and you can read every one of them before you decide which ones you want to purchase. How great is that? My favorite tracts to distribute are, “This Was Your Life!” and ” Greatest Story Ever Told.” What are you waiting for?

Daniel 12:3 – And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.

John 15:5 – (Jesus) – I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

2 Cor. 5:18 – Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.

1 Peter 3:15 – But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.
