I’ve been handing out (and placing) over 1000 Chick tracts every year for over 12 years. I leave them wherever I go, whether it’s at Walmart, at Target, at Costco, at a restaurant, or at the doctor’s office. These small cartoon booklets contain the gospel message of Jesus Christ and on the last page of each booklet there’s a sinner’s prayer to help someone accept God’s saving grace. This genre is the perfect way to “passively” witness for Christ for those believers who have limited opportunities to witness for Christ face-to-face with nonbelievers. I can personally testify that tracts work. Over the last 75 years, millions of nonbelievers have been saved unto eternal life in heaven through the use of gospel tracts. All I’m asking for is a chance to be heard.
Luke 10:2 – (Jesus) – The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.
John 9:4 – (Jesus) – I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
John 6:27 – (Jesus) – Do not labor for food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on him.
Matthew 28:19 – (Jesus) – Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 10:38 – (Jesus) – And he who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.
Nobody has ever refused to accept a Chick tract from me. I let the Holy Spirit guide me to someone who will accept a tract from my hand. I walk up to them, make eye contact, smile warmly, and I confidently tell them, “God has asked me to give this to you.” As I offer the tract, their hand automatically reaches out and accepts the tract. They are like a deer in the headlights. I walk away before they have a chance to say anything. Several things are going on here at once. I’ve read their body language and determined that they will most likely accept a tract from me. When someone hears God has a gift for them they are caught off guard. They don’t know if it’s true or not, but they can’t take the chance of offending God, so they always take the tract until they have a chance to think it over. Since I’m already gone and they have the tract in their hand, they have no other choice but to look inside out of curiosity. It’s human nature. As a vessel of God bringing the “good news” of Christ to the nonbeliever, I’ve done my job. The rest is up to the Holy Spirit because, in the end, only Almighty God can save a soul to heaven. All I’m asking for is a chance to help.
John 6:51 – (Jesus) – I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever.
Matthew 4:4 – (Jesus) – It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
Matthew 6:19-20 – (Jesus) – Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Matthew 5:16 – (Jesus) – Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
John 8:32 – (Jesus) – And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
God has given every believer their own personal ministry of reconciliation, and no two are alike. The Holy Spirit impressed upon me my personal ministry is to study the Bible and witness for Christ using the written word. My Christian blog is my written testimony about God and his saving grace. My prison ministry involves sending to prisons Bibles containing the written words that are God’s truth. Gospel tracts contain written words leading nonbelievers to the conclusion that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. So when I hand out tracts in public places, I’m doing what God has commanded me to do. When the Holy Spirit guides me to give a tract to a nonbeliever it’s for them personally; not by name of course, but by their condition as a nonbeliever needing salvation. Or if they’re already saved, they can take the tract home for a family member who needs it. Either way, I’m telling the truth. When someone takes a tract from me they’re also reading my body language too. They can tell I’m being truthful, which gives them pause. It makes them want to check out what makes me so confident about God. All I’m asking for is a chance to save them.
Acts 1:8 – (Jesus) – But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me, in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
2 Timothy 4:5 – But be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
John 4:36 – (Jesus) – And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
Luke 11:23 – (Jesus) – He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.
Luke 9:23 – (Jesus) – If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
